For example,\u00a0if you have only 100 sq feet area to cool, a 0.75 or 1 horse power air-conditioner would be ideal. Going for a 2 ton\u00a0air-conditioner would be superfluous. \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Also installing an\u00a0<a title=\"Electric Saver\" href=\"http:\/\/www.electricsaver1200.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Electric Saver<\/a>\u00a0is a great way to make your Air Conditioner energy efficient without the high expense of a complete system overhaul.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JiMXJzNGcUM?rel=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">This one is a bit extreme, and quite honestly I don&#8217;t do it.\u00a0 But if you are truly hard core and able to do it, go for it&#8230;<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Come winter, move up to that part of the house\u00a0which is warmest.\u00a0 And in summer, move to the coolest part of the house which could be your basement. Those\u00a0with bi-level bedrooms can save this migration.\u00a0 ONLY the truly hard core do this.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">In\u00a0summer, opening the opposite side windows in the morning, will allow for fresh air by cross ventilation. However,\u00a0make sure to close the windows before the sun starts beating down in all its fury.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">As a rule of thumb, use your air-conditioner only if the temperature exceeds 80\u00b0 F or 27\u00b0 Centigrade. Use fans instead,\u00a0during this period. Most people who are not aware of these small adjustments to save power would do well to\u00a0apply this practically in their homes and watch for the results.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Fix exhaust fans in your windows to draw the hot air out.\u00a0 And if you want to take advantage of the cooler air\u00a0outside, use a fan in the window to suck air out from the room.\u00a0 This creates a vacuum and induces the external cool air\u00a0to enter inside the room. A similar arrangement of a fan in your attic window to draw out the hot air provides\u00a0satisfactory cooling during summer.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Use the coolest part of the day when doing house chores like vacuum cleaning, dusting and the like. Stationary work\u00a0like washing dishes in summer, are ideal chores in front of a fan. Leave work like baking to the cooler days when the\u00a0windows are open and the air-conditioner is turned off, so that good power saving could be achieved. Proper\u00a0planning is very relevant to such activities.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Some appliances guzzle power. It is important to know which ones matter when it comes to energy usage and which ones are minimal.\u00a0 You can check the power consumption of the appliances with a\u00a0clamp tester.\u00a0 Ask your local Electrical store for one.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">We hope the suggestions given above help you reduce power bills and\u00a0save money.
